Hey! I Work at Geek.com now!
In case you didn't read the title, hey, I work at Geek.com now! I'm the new Senior Editor! I had already done some freelancing for them, and since it and PCMag are both here in the Ziff Davis New York office I'm still sitting at the same desk. But now if you want to find my incredibly interesting and entertaining thoughts on tech, games, movies, and all parts of geek culture Geek.com is where you should go.
For example, check out my recap of IndieCade East 2016.

What's Up With Me: Summer 2015
My life has been pretty crazy these past two months, so what better place to talk about it than on my poor, neglected blog?
In case you didn’t know, I now work at PCMag.com full-time as a Junior Software Analyst. Internships pay off! I still do plenty of writing about video games but the job also covers everything from mobile payment apps to weird video messaging platforms to America’s most useful gadget the Apple Watch.
Meanwhile, every Friday they put a camera in front of my dumb face while I read dumb words I wrote off a teleprompter for the daily news show “What’s New Now.” Check it out!
Moving to PCMag also meant moving to New York. Of all the places to live for the foreseeable future, this city was a pretty good pick. I haven’t done nearly enough exploring, but with summer coming up that’s hopefully about to change.
Meanwhile, I finally released Followers, my horror comedy short film I spent like four years working on. If all goes right I’ll have a longer post-mortem on this to share later, a much-needed emotional purge. But in the meantime, please enjoy the nonsense that happens when actors perform my scripts and professionals film them.
Right before starting at PCMag I finished up my interviews for Cards Against Humanity’s Tabletop Deathmatch board game reality show. The final story focused on CAH co-founder Max Temkin, who I’ve interviewed twice now, and a bunch of other board game folks really enjoyed how it turned out. Don't listen to the CAH haters!
Being an employed adult has definitely made my life a lot busier, but I still find the time to play new games and consume other media. Bouncing between Splatoon and Wolfenstein: The New Order will break your preconception of what a shooter is allowed to be. I enjoyed Avengers: Age of Ultron way more than the first, but the things I disliked about the first are what most people loved about it so once again I’m in the minority. There’s nothing more I can add to the Mad Max: Fury Road discussion other than it’s awesome and you should see it. I still can’t stop thinking about the "Mad Men" finale.

But yeah, that’s what’s up with me. I’m a full-time, professional, Black, games/tech journalist living in New York City. How ridiculous is that?

Followers, Finally
I'll have more in-depth thoughts to share on this soon enough, because who wouldn't after spending nearly four years on a creative project, but for now, please watch, share, and enjoy my silly short film "Followers."

Four Years of 148Apps
Today was my last day writing about iOS games for 148Apps.com. I wrote a big, sappy essay about the four years I spent there. Enjoy! And stay tuned for BIG EXCITING NEWS regarding my future career in nerdy journalism VERY SOON!

So I Graduated College...
Today, I graduated from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. So I'm now just a journalist, not a journalism student. When I tweeted that out, game developer Gut Shot Games tweeted me this picture back.
So I'm not just a journalist, but, now more than ever, a games journalist.
I don't even like dogs.

New Look
As you dear readers may have noticed, I changed up the blog a little bit. In addition to the new design, there are now new pages for contacting me, reading my resume, and checking out my published work. I just finished up my internship at PC Mag and I'm feeling pretty professional. Hope you enjoy the new site!

The New Normal
If it wasn't obvious before, regular updates on this blog are pretty much done. If you've still been following it thanks for the support. It's been fun. Stick around though. I'll be posting whatever big new things I'm up to on the internet like cool articles, stuff from my awesome secret Fall internship, and, of course, episodes of Followers premiering in the coming weeks.
Stay tuned

I'm Still Here
Hey it’s the holiday season and what not so now I have time to blog and do other secret stuff again. Isn't that great?
I’m keeping this first post short because it’s my blog to do what I want with. However, I do have a few things to say about that tragedy that’s been in the news these days. Obviously a guy who’d write an article like this isn't too sentimental but come on, this is different. Maybe it was seeing all the kids in the airport on the way back home. Maybe it was seeing Lincoln and how politics can actually get stuff done sometimes. In any case, there are way better places to read about this issue than on this vanity blog but if articles like this don’t make it clear enough, I’m really liberal and I have an opinion about this.
People say this shouldn't be a political issue but it is. To say we shouldn't be talking about this on a policy level only enables the forces that allow things like this to keep happening. People blame violent movies and games while saying plenty of other things besides guns kill people like knives and cars. The difference is movies and games entertain, knives cut vegetables and cars get you from here to there. Guns are only for killing people. For me, to be against at least restricting them a little more is incomprehensible at this point.
We have to talk about this.

Time well wasted
Hey guys, once again I'm being swamped with essays and finals and Followers stuff and whatnot so there probably won't be any original blog posts for a little bit.
Who am I kidding I've just been playing Curiosity.

NYC Humblebrags
Quick update, now that Pie Planet is done the new schedule is recaps on Fridays and originals on Tuesdays, like this one.
Based on my interests and career aspirations, it’s pretty inevitable that I’ll end up living on the west coast. However, I’ll still always be an east coast native and therefore will always have love for New York City. After visiting the city this past weekend to meet up with some friends, I remembered that every time I go there, it’s awesome for an entirely different reason. So I decided to write them down.

Has it been a year already?
Yes.

One year ago today I posted on this blog for the very first time. In New Media I talked about how having a personal blog was the next step for me both as a writer and fan of the internet in general. So far it has paid off great. It's been really fun writing about the stuff I find interesting and I'm pretty sure it's helping me land some writing gigs so yes, when people tell you it's smart to start a blog to showcase your work they aren't kidding.
I don't really have a favorite post because how could I but here are your guys' five most popular posts based on hits.
Cool Post Bro- 1800 hits
My Little Pony vs. Monster High: Capturing the Key Demographic - 1679 hits
Mind Dump 3- True Stories Bro - 954 hits
Tron Legacy Reconfigured sort of Review - 625 hits
Why Do I Own This?: Laser Pointer - 420 (heh) hits
Those results are kind of crazy. Cool Post Bro? Really?
Seriously though thanks to everyone who actually reads this digital collection of my thoughts/celebration of my own narcissism. Stay tuned because there is something really awesome in the works that I can't wait to share more about. Really though most of you reading this already know what it is.
Here's this thing as a gift. It's great.
